I am a British painter who splits my time between London and Tokyo. With Trinidadian roots yet to explore, I navigate feelings of cultural displacement through my work.
I investigate fragmented identities using appropriation and concealment. By sourcing artifacts from colonial archives and Trinidadian digital materials, I obscure them with traditional oil paint and bleach, using found objects as unconventional brushes.
My practice exists at the intersection of Trinidadian calypso and Detroit techno, capturing the tension between darkness and joy, honouring my rich genealogy.
